It's A Wrap / On my way

Friday, January 3, 2014
It seems appropriate for me to make a post about resolutions/goals after ringing in the new year, 2014. I could go on about how fast last year went by, but I might as well save my breath because I'm sure that's how it'll be every year from now on. I'm in the fast lane and there is no turning around - I'm still trying to face this. Like many of you, I made a list of resolutions and goals. I wrote down things (bullet points and all) such as traveling to a new place, going out of my way to meet/connect with new people, and indulging in a more healthier me. There are also a few missed goals from last year's list which makes me wonder if they'll be achieved within the next 12 months. Basically, my main focus of the year is to better myself, and most of all, push my self outside of my comfort bubble. I want to make fear less of an enemy and more of a friend. I want to feel taller and more strong spoken. I want to keep an open mind and carry less judgement for those around me. These are just a few of the wars I've been battling my whole life and eventually, I'd like to overcome them.

2013 was a wonderful year for many reasons. I had accomplished so much and checked off a lot of resolutions I had made for myself. I created my very first magazine, completed a fashion internship, and experienced living on my own. I made new friends and became more connected with the small, little city of Omaha. I took a leap of faith last year, leaving the things that felt comfortable to me and in the end, I learned more than I ever thought I would. I only hope to accomplish more this year. I'm also happy to still have this blog of mine. I plan to continue and focus more on it this year. I hope you'll stick with me and follow along!

So here I am, looking at this number in hopes that it'll bring me something amazing. Opportunities to grow and explore, live and to learn, have faith and to find love. The thing to remember is that we have opportunities to do this everyday. Waiting for the new year to make change, well, just might be a waste of your time. With the goals I have set out for myself, I don't want to burry myself in expectations. I do, however, want to keep faith and continue loving what I do. I don't know how else I'd make it through this endless fight for happiness & success. I have an unpaved road ahead and I have no idea of which direction I'm headed. I'm going at this blind folded. All I have now is a map of ideas and aspirations. I will continue to be inspired by the people and things around me and hopefully that'll be just enough.

If you're still reading this rambly post, I hope that you will also venture outside of your comfort bubble this year. You'll learn and discover so many things about yourself. Failure is something to embrace, not to fear. You'll be thankful in the long run. Thank you so much for reading my blog. I hope you all have a wonderful 2014.

xx,
Payton
